J. Nile Wagley, PhD

(he/him/his)

I approach therapy as a cooperative relationship. You bring your knowledge, history, feelings, and self, and I bring understanding of human cognition, relationships, and therapeutic interventions. Together, we team-up to gain awareness, achieve goals, reduce pain, discover pathways, treat conditions, and work toward wellness.

J. Nile Wagley, PhD

My training is in the bio/psycho/social model. This means we will address and integrate all relevant parts of your life. Instead of using just one model, I am trained in many scientifically validated models and will implement the right interventions at the right times throughout the therapeutic process.

My father is a social worker and my mother is a nurse. Growing up in this environment of helping professionals helped me see the complex layers of familial, environmental, biological, and physiological factors that create the constructs of our lives. I acknowledge the inequitable social environment we were all born into, including my own privilege, and continue to examine and challenge my own biases. I will help you do the same.

All my work is trauma-informed. I will perform psychological and cognitive evaluations. I provide consultation to medical departments, schools, and corporate organizations. I offer marriage counseling and parent coaching. I address substance use disorders from a harm-reduction standpoint and integrate this treatment along with co-occurring  factors such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

I look forward to teaming up with you.
